Gianfranco Ferré tra ragione e sentimento

From 7 September to 6 October 2024, the Sala degli Stemmi of Palazzo Malinverni in Legnano will host the installation "Gianfranco Ferré tra ragione e sentimento", promoted by the Municipality of Legnano and curated by the Gianfranco Ferré Research Centre of Politecnico di Milano. The event is part of the centenary programme of Legnano Città.

The exhibition aims to explore Gianfranco Ferré's unique approach to fashion design through a selection of iconic designs and garments, offering visitors an experience enriched by a digital connection to the Ferré archive.

The exhibition design by architect Martino Berghinz, inspired by the typical codes of the Ferré language, is based on clear lines and pure geometries, accentuated by the contrast between black and white, and forms a counterpoint to the refined opulence of the Sala degli Stemmi.

The designs and shirts on display are part of the designer's archive, recognised as heritage of "particular cultural interest" by the Ministry of Culture - Archival Superintendence for Lombardy, and today part of the Historical Archives System of Politecnico di Milano.

The Gianfranco Ferré Research Centre, Digital Innovation for Creative and Cultural Industries was established in December 2021 by Politecnico di Milano following the Ferré family's donation of the archive and headquarters of the historic Gianfranco Ferré Foundation.

Under the coordination of the Fashion in Process Research Laboratory of the Department of Design, the Research Centre brings together the technical-scientific know-how and design culture that characterise the identity of Politecnico di Milano with the material and immaterial heritage relating to the history, culture and techniques of fashion, preserved and valorised by the Gianfranco Ferré Foundation since 2008.
