Cultural Heritage and Instability in Syria and the Middle East: Between Urgency and Reflections

In response to a call from Heritage International Institute, Politecnico di Milano is contributing to Syrian Heritage Week in Italy by showcasing its diverse approaches and expertise in the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage.

In recent years, the Middle East has experienced a high level of instability. Recent escalations have directly and indirectly affected the lives of millions of people, as well as the protection and promotion of cultural heritage. Syria's heritage in particular has been under pressure from violent conflict and now faces further political uncertainty.
This roundtable will help discuss the most pressing issues as well as broader research, education and project perspectives for cultural heritage in the region.
