The podcast Enrico Crispolti. L’arte nella città. Dalla partecipazione all’ambiente come sociale is now available. The ten-episode series is curated by the Archivio Enrico Crispolti in collaboration with Anna Mazzanti, Department of Design, Politecnico di Milano, with support from Regione Lazio.

The series traces key stages in Crispolti’s critical thinking on art in urban space, from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Drawing on archival sources, many of them previously unpublished, it examines the phases, processes and experiments that shaped his work, with historical and philological rigour. The episodes also feature contributions from scholars in the field.

At the heart of the project are two approaches to artistic intervention in urban space, identified by Crispolti in the early 1970s. The first is participation, interventions that animate local contexts, engage the public and bring art to a wider audience. The second is the improvement of the urban environment through permanent artworks, shared with citizens and cared for and valued by them. Developed through publications and exhibitions, these ideas continue to generate interest and debate.

The ten episodes focus on: Volterra ’73; Dissuasione manifesta – 24 fogli; Operazione Roma Eterna; Casa del Popolo di Ponticelli; Operazione Arcevia. Comunità esistenziale; Gruppo Salerno ’75; Biennale di Venezia 1976; Cooperativa Alzaia a Roma; Campo del Sole a Tuoro; Concorso per piazza Augusto Imperatore a Roma.

Together, these experiences bring into focus the central concerns of Crispolti’s work: the crisis of the city, the loss of its human scale and the contradictions of the metropolis. The Archivio Enrico Crispolti positions itself as an active interlocutor, engaging with society, local communities and public administrations.

Episodes are released weekly from 28 September to 30 November 2026 on the Archivio Enrico Crispolti Spotify channel.
