GLI ARTISTI SONO QUELLI CHE FANNO CASINO. Frammenti dal carcere di San Vittore
ReverseLab
From September 28 to October 28, 2024, Casa Circondariale Francesco di Cataldo (San Vittore Prison), Piazza Filangieri 2, Milan
The ReverseLab space in Milan's San Vittore Prison “Francesco Di Cataldo” was inaugurated this week, the result of a collaboration between the Prison, Politecnico di Milano and PAC Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea, made possible by the contribution of Fondazione di Comunità Milano and realized in partnership with Forme Tentative and Philo - Pratiche filosofiche.
The ReverseLab project is part of the Off Campus San Vittore activities and is led by the multidisciplinary and interdepartmental research group Laboratorio Carcere, which involves the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies and the Department of Design and has been networking with other actors on the prison theme for more than a decade.
ReverseLab is a repurposed space inside the San Vittore prison, closed and uninhabitable since the second half of the 1980s. Today it is a permanent laboratory dedicated to artistic and cultural production, open to dialogue between the prison and the city.
ReverseLab opens to the public with the exhibition "GLI ARTISTI SONO QUELLI CHE FANNO CASINO. Frammenti dal carcere di San Vittore" (ARTISTS ARE THOSE WHO MAKE NOISE. Fragments from San Vittore Prison) which includes a site-specific work by artist Maurice Pefura. The installation is the result of a workshop held between March and June with the active participation of inmates and prison officers.
