La chimica del design. Progettare la materia

Exhibition

From November 6 to 20, 2026, Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy, Palazzo Piacentini-Vaccaro, Rome

The exhibition La chimica del design. Progettare la materia has opened in Rome at Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy (MIMIT).

Curated by Professor Marinella Ferrara, it is promoted by Federchimicain collaboration with ADI Design Museum. The exhibition explores the relationship between design and chemistry in the development of modern and contemporary design, presenting chemistry as an essential component of the design process.

The exhibition is organised into four sections, each exploring a different way of working with matter and reshaping how we imagine objects: Generate, through the use of new materials; Enhance, by improving performance; Regenerate, by transforming and reusing existing resources; and Rethink, by redefining the processes and systems through which matter takes shape.

Through a critical perspective, the exhibition highlights the contribution of chemistry to new design possibilities and the transformation of material culture.

The exhibition is free to visit and open until 20 November.

Opening hours are:

Weekdays: 5:00–8:00 pm
Public holidays: 10:00 am–6:00 pm
