Pharmaceutical Collection with Banco Farmaceutico

Pharmaceutical recovery project

From June 3 to June 11, 2026, at B7, Bovisa Durando Campus

From June 3 to June 11, 2026, it will be possible to take part in the pharmaceutical donation initiative, organized in collaboration with Banco Farmaceutico.

Every year, unused packages of still-valid medicines remain in our homes. As they are classified as special waste, their disposal requires complex processes that have environmental and economic impacts on the community. However, these medicines can represent a valuable resource for people who do not have access to healthcare due to financial difficulties.

For this reason, together with Banco Farmaceutico, the Department is participating in the project for the recovery of valid, unexpired medicines (RFV).

During the initiative, a dedicated collection container will be placed at the main entrance on the ground floor of building B7. Here it will be possible to donate medicines that are no longer needed, which will then be delivered to the charitable organizations affiliated with Banco Farmaceutico.

All types of prescription (ethical) and over-the-counter medicines can be donated, provided they are not expired and have at least six months of remaining validity, properly stored in their original primary and secondary packaging, and unopened. Medicines classified as narcotics or psychotropic substances, refrigerated medicines, and hospital-only medicines are excluded.

Among the most commonly requested over-the-counter medicines are:

  • anti-inflammatory drugs in tablets and creams (e.g., ibuprofen, ketoprofen)
  • antihistamines and antiallergic medicines (e.g., diphenhydramine-based products)
  • medicines for gastrointestinal disorders (e.g., antacids, antispasmodics)
