PoliSocial Award

Five research projects have been selected as winners of the Polisocial Award, the competition promoted each year by the University as part of its social responsibility programme.

The winning projects of the eighth edition of the competition focused on the topic "Equity and Recovery" with the aim of developing methods, strategies and tools capable of reducing the social imbalances aggravated by the Covid-19 emergency, promoting access to resources and opportunities for vulnerable people, categories or communities, with a view to equity and sustainability.

One of the five selected projects, SOSpesa | Reti di vicinato per il recupero, la distribuzione e la valorizzazione dell’eccedenza alimentare, was born within our Department, the Scientific Responsible of the project is Professor Davide Fassi. The project also involves Deib and the Department of Management Engineering of our University.

In agreement with the associative network of the Milanese Nolo district, the project aims to create a network of local solidarity players which, by mapping the flow of food, offers food products at reduced prices, recovers surplus food and transforms unsold food in favour of weak categories.
