From October 2026, Polifactory, Building B3, Bovisa Durando Campus, Milan
Open Polifactory is an annual series of presentations, events and discussions addressing complex issues in contemporary design research, fostering an exchange that is as accessible and open as possible.
Curated and produced by Polifactory, the makerspace and fablab of Politecnico di Milano, the series is aimed at faculty members, researchers and students from the Polytechnic community, as well as citizens, designers, professionals and civil servants interested in exploring advanced perspectives in design culture.
This year’s programme is titled Transfeminisms x Design. An exploration of agency, power and knowledge. It explores the relationship between transfeminisms and design, questioning and challenging the assumptions that guide design practice. From urban-space design to material culture and the history of objects, from visual communication to emerging technologies, the series examines the role of design and designers’ responsibility in shaping artefacts, realities and forms of knowledge.
PROGRAMME:
Making the Trans*feminist-Queer City: Plural Perspectives on Urban Design
October 22, 2026, 6:30 pm, Polifactory, Building B3, Bovisa Durando Campus
Who designs the cities and public spaces we inhabit? How and for whom? Open Polifactory opens the series with an event dedicated to public space as a non-neutral site, shaped by power relations, forms of control and exclusion. Valentina Ferreri, researcher and PhD in Design at Politecnico di Milano, and Elisa Venturini, PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Verona, will engage in a dialogue bringing together theoretical perspectives and case studies. They will invite participants to observe the city through a trans*feminist and queer lens, and to imagine different ways of designing and inhabiting it.
The event will be held in Italian.
Registration is required on Eventbrite.
