Two School of Design projects selected for the 2023 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism
The Bridge of Future
Two projects realised as part of the New Interiors 2 Lab - headed by Professor Ico Migliore - of the Master's Degree programme in Interior and Spatial Design at Politecnico di Milano, with the theme “FUTURABILITY: Timeless Utopias for Seoul”, have been selected to participate in the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2023.
The Breathing Bridge and Back to Nature propose a futuristic design scenario of inhabited bridges over the Han River, responding to the theme of the fourth edition of the Biennale, which is to investigate the future of Seoul in 100 years, imagining a green and sustainable city to reconnect the urban fabric and its inhabitants with nature.
The Breathing Bridge is a modular structure and an organic living being that holds, processes and thansforms the “Gi”, the source energy of life, to adapt to the environment. Back to Nature project promotes food sustainability through a circular assembly line process. It aims to raise awareness and involve people in reducing food waste while producing new materials.
Together with the ten other international finalists, they will be displayed at the Biennale with drawings, renderings, sketches, video works and the 3D printed model.
