Gaetani Flora

Since June 2024, she has been a Researcher at the Department of Design of Politecnico di Milano. In 2011, she received her PhD in Industrial Design and Multimedia Communication from Politecnico di Milano.

Since 2005, she has collaborated with the School of Design of Politecnico di Milano and, since 2011, she has taught in the BSc programme in Product Design, focusing on drawing, representation, and project communication.

Since the 2022/2023 academic year, she has been involved in the teaching activities of the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School, established through the collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and Xi’an Jiaotong University. Within this framework, she teaches and serves as Academic Quality and Transnational Alignment Coordinator for the BSc in Engineering-Industrial Design, with responsibilities related to teaching quality and the transnational alignment of the educational offer.

From 2019 to 2024, she worked as a research fellow at the Department of Design, focusing on representation for Transportation Design, project visualization, and immersive technologies. In this context, she contributed to the BASE-5G – Smart vehicles and mobility project and served as scientific coordinator of XR_CODESTO, a project dedicated to the use of eXtended Reality in collaborative design processes.

Between 2017 and 2019, she collaborated with the Department of Design on research activities within the FARB programme Dal Segno alla Forma. Since 2011, she has also coordinated the communication activities of the Master in Transportation & Automobile Design at POLI.design.

Her teaching and research activities focus on design drawing, analogue and digital representation, visualization for Transportation Design, immersive technologies, and project communication.
