Associate Professor at the School of Design of the Politecnico di Milano, she holds a Ph.D. in Storia dell’Architettura e dell’Urbanistica (2004) and a specialization in Restauro dei Monumenti (1999).
She was awarded the national AAA-Italia Prize for Historical Research (2005) for her doctoral thesis Rural Building and Design Culture in Milan and Lombardy from the 1930s to the Post-War Period, and she continues to explore topics related to rural housing.
She is a member of the Scientific Committee for 20th-Century Heritage of ICOMOS Italy; previously, she was part of the executive board of Do.co.mo.mo. Italia (Documentation and Conservation of the Modern Movement) and the technical-scientific committee of AAA-Italia (Association of Architecture Archives), with which she continues to collaborate.
Since 2002, she has been involved in the description and study of design and architecture archives, working with Centro di Alti Studi sulle Arti Visive del Comune di Milano (CASVA), Soprintendenza Archivistica della Lombardia, Sistema Archivistico Nazionale (SAN), as well as with the Lombardy Region and the Ministry of Culture (MiBACT). She has catalogued the archives of architects and designers Augusto Magnaghi and Mario Terzaghi, Fiorenzo Ramponi, Paola Lanzani, Jonathan De Pas–Donato D’Urbino–Paolo Lomazzi, a portion of the archive of Vittorio Gregotti, and the model collection owned by CASVA, publishing texts dedicated to these archives and the work of the individual professionals, including: De Pas – D’Urbino – Lomazzi. Works and Projects (2013), Archival Matters (2015), and Contemporary Humanism. The Archives of Gregotti – Meneghetti – Stoppino and of Gregotti Associati at CASVA(2016).
She is particularly interested in themes related to dwelling and housing, interior and furniture design, to which she has dedicated works such as Dream Homes. Histories of the Domestic Landscape (2019) and I Will Survive. Living Without a Fixed Address, an essay for the exhibition catalogue L'Intime, de la chambre aux réseaux sociaux (Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris 2024). She regularly participates in national and international conferences, and her articles have been published in Domus, Rassegna di Architettura e di Urbanistica, AAA Italia. Bollettino, Recupero & Conservazione online, Ark, and Engramma.
She has been teaching Storia del Design e dell’Architettura at the School of Design of Politecnico di Milano since 2011, and from 2009 to 2019 she taught Storia e Critica dell’Architettura Contemporanea at the School of Building Engineering and Architecture at Politecnico di Milano.
