IDEACTIVITY CENTER

Website's Project

IDEActivity Center is a research group in the field of Creativity and Design, founded in 2013, it aims to add value to all aspects of creativity and design for innovation.

The center integrates studies on creativity, Design Futures methods, Design Thinking, and design research to enhance all creativity factors that facilitate innovation processes through design. The group is committed to activating and enhancing the phases of the "creative process" in any context.

Since 2015, IDEActivity has focused on the impact of the digital transition on creative capabilities in various stages of the design process. In this regard, it has experimented with new approaches based on Design & Futures Thinking, co-design, and the use of tools such as generative AI. The center conducts research at both national and international levels.

Through participation in European and national research projects, IDEActivity has gained extensive experience in coordinating such projects. This has allowed the group to broaden its research focus and delve into a range of topics, including the development of the Design Futures method and approach to support organizations in creating future scenarios, empowering skills for the digital and sustainable transition, and exploring digital creativity and a new form of creativity in the post-anthropocentric era. Recently, the center has been investigating how key concepts from Posthuman philosophical theories can shape a new type of creativity to help designers anticipate "more-than-human" futures where humans and nature coexist in harmony. Additionally, research has extended to how the design futures approach can be applied to urban contexts and how the notion of spatial equity can change to help designers and communities design future spaces that include a variety of human and non-human actors.

Current research focuses on developing methods and tools that combine Design Futures research, creativity studies, and a people-planet-centered approach to enhance innovative design processes.

The research group's work focuses on four main thematic areas:

  • Design Futures: The center is dedicated to developing methodologies and approaches that support organizations in creating future scenarios, enabling them to anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities in the field of design.
  • Digital Creativity for Digital Maturity: IDEActivity studies how digital creativity can contribute to the digital maturity of organizations. This research area explores the intersections between design, technology, and digital innovation.
  • Biodesign: The group conducts research on the possibilities offered by biodesign, exploring the interaction between wearables and design for psychophysical well-being. This thematic area includes developing sustainable and innovative solutions inspired by nature.
  • Innovative Education: IDEActivity is also committed to researching and developing innovative educational approaches in design. This includes using new tools, methodologies, and pedagogical approaches to foster the learning and creativity of future design professionals.

Within the Center, researchers and professionals with complementary skills collaborate synergistically with a multidisciplinary network composed of international laboratories and research centers.

This collaboration fosters interdisciplinarity and the sharing of knowledge and experiences, contributing to promoting innovation in the field of creativity and design.
