RESIDE

REgenerative Spatial Innovation DEsign

The group deals with research and training projects in the field of interior design and urban regeneration, with a particular focus on the reactivation of places, the redevelopment of buildings of collective interest and urban parts at neighbourhood scale, with a view to environmental, economic and social sustainability.

The group supports processes of urban transformation, assisting clients and end users in the re-imagination of public and private spaces, and developing research focused on sustainable interior innovation as a strategic lever for the regeneration of the built environment in its cultural, economic and social dimensions.
The group is experimenting with innovative methods of intervention in interiors and urban spaces, processes of adaptive reuse, temporary use and codesign, and is developing analytical, scenaristic and design tools to develop flexible and reversible solutions that respect the local context and seek to preserve places and achieve economic and environmental sustainability.

In response to the challenges of contemporary societies, characterised by dynamic and pervasive flows and an increasing accumulation of waste, understood not only as goods, but also as places and people, the group considers reuse a key strategy to address the abandonment of urban spaces. These spaces, often anonymous and devoid of identity, can become opportunities for redemption and regeneration through forms of design that, starting from interiors, explore sustainable functions and behaviours. The aim is to propose innovative solutions for the layout and equipment of inhabited spaces, capable of responding to the challenge and responsibility of change.

The group adopts a multidisciplinary approach, integrating psycho-social, artistic, technological and digital contributions, working with public and private actors and promoting participatory processes with local communities. The group is also active in international training networks.
