Marzia Mortati is Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Design, where she teaches Service Design, Innovation, and their connection with Artificial Intelligence and the public sector. Marzia is also one of the Executive Directors of the European Academy of Design, a network of 3000+ academics and researchers in 5 continents and 35 countries, and Deputy Director of the International Master in AI for Public Services (AI4Gov - https://ai4gov-master.eu/), delivered in collaboration with Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, FAU, and TalTech. In addition, Marzia is one of the main promoters of the research network PoGoSig - Design for Policy and Governance Special Interest Group part of the renowned Design Research Society.

Between 2014 and 2022, Marzia was the coordinator for the Politecnico di Milano of MEDes - Master of European Design, a network of 7 European Design Schools aimed at training excellent professionals, a program of which she is also an alumna.

Throughout her university education and career, Marzia has developed an international profile by studying at various European schools (Glasgow School of Art, 2003-2004, Stockholm School of Art - KonstFack, 2004-2005, ImaginationLancaster, 2008-2009).

She has also developed substantial experience in European research, having acted as a researcher and project manager for projects such as DeEP - Design in European Policy (2013-2015), one of the first projects funded by the European Commission on the evaluation of the effectiveness of Design Policy in Europe, Design for Europe (2014-2017), coordinated by the UK Design Council, DigiMooD | Digital Module of Didactics for Cultural and Creative Industries (2019-2021), NetZeroCities | Accelerating cities' transition to net zero emissions by 2030 (2021-2024).

Since 2008, she has authored journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers. Journals she has published in include Design Issues, Technovation, Design Management Review, The Design Journal, She Ji, Policy Science, Policy Design and Practice, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Research and Behaviour.
